(Fulton, MD – May 28, 2020) The Maryland Building Industry Association announced the 2020 Montgomery County Custom Builder Awards in an online ceremony. The Custom Builder Awards showcase the outstanding work of builders, architects, designers and construction professionals in the region. "These homes are built with superior quality and design that truly reflect the individual personalities of their home owners," said Lori Graf, CEO of MBIA. "These winners are examples of the partnership between the builders and their clients and their skill and design excellence shine through in the quality and details of these winning homes," she added. Many of these award-winning homes feature luxury amenities like indoor pools, spa bathrooms, theater rooms, outdoor entertaining spaces, gourmet kitchens, home offices and cutting-edge technology. The awards are divided into categories including: • Traditional Homes which combine practicality and accessibility with a classic look and simplistic design and functionality. • Contemporary Homes which share common design elements such as strong, geometric shapes, oversized windows allowing for extensive natural light, asymmetrical facades and open floor plans with minimal doors and walls. • Transitional Homes which blend traditional and contemporary styles, incorporating lines that are less ornate than traditional designs, but not as severely basic as contemporary lines. The winners are then further divided into to two types of houses; custom and speculative. A custom home is designed and built to the client's unique requirements. A spec home is designed and built with a buyer in mind. Entries were judged by a distinguished panel of industry experts from across the area. High resolution images are available for all of the winners.
